Lancaster, PA – The Lancaster Barnstormers (19-15) overcame a five run deficit to complete the four game sweep of the Somerset Patriots (15-18) as they won game two of the doubleheader 9-7 at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Patriots have lost a season-high five games in a row and now have lost 11 of their last 12 contests on the road.

The Patriots plated four runs in the second frame on five hits as they sent eight men to the plate. Designated hitter Yusuf Carter and catcher Adam Donachie each recorded RBI singles while center fielder Jonny Tucker laced a two RBI single to right field to give the Patriots a 4-0 advantage.

Carter would tally his second RBI of the contest with an RBI infield single in the top of the third inning to expand the lead to 5-0.

In the bottom of the third inning Barnstormers third baseman Terry Tiffee hit an RBI single to bring home a run for the Barnstormers making the score 5-1.

The Barnstormers tied the game at 5-5 in the fourth frame. Second baseman Jaime Pedroza clubbed a two-run home run (5), catcher Francisco Hernandez scored on a wild pitch and shortstop Jesus Merchan legged out an RBI infield single to tie the game at 5-5.

In the bottom of the fifth inning Hernandez would give the Barnstormers a 6-5 lead on a sacrifice fly. Center fielder Adam Godwin, right fielder Fehlandt Lentini and Tiffee all recorded RBI base hits to give the Barnstormers insurance runs making the score 9-5.

Patriots second baseman Freddie Bynum extended his hitting streak to 17 games with a two RBI double down the left field line in the sixth inning to cut the four run deficit in half making the score 9-7.

Reliever Anthony Claggett suffered his second loss of the season while reliever Les Walrond earned his third win of the season and second victory this series. Jeff Bennett notched his first save of the season for Lancaster.
