Camden, NJ – The Camden Riversharks (18-19) defeated the Somerset Patriots (16-21) 4-1 Sunday afternoon from sunny Campbell’s Field to clinch this four game weekend series. The Riversharks won six of the 10 meetings in the first half against the Patriots.
In the bottom of the fourth inning the Riversharks plated two runs to take a 2-0 lead. Center fielder Drew Macias recorded a sacrifice fly and right fielder Steven Doetsch registered an RBI single.
In the bottom of the fifth inning the Riversharks added to their lead as Macias hit a two RBI double down the right field line making the score 4-0.
In the top of the seventh inning the Patriots finally got on the scoreboard as right fielder Yusuf Cater plated a run on a RBI fielder’s choice making the score 4-1.
Riversharks starter Sean Jarrett earned his third win of the season as he tossed seven innings allowing just four hits and one run. Patriots starter Mike MacDonald, who was throwing on just three days rest, suffered his second loss of the season. MacDonald allowed four runs in 4.2 innings of work. Closer John Lujan worked a scoreless ninth to notch his seventh save of the 2012 campaign.
