June 22nd Game Notes; Patriots @ Bluefish

Bridgeport, CT – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (26-27) face the Bridgeport Bluefish (22-31) at Harbor Yard at 7:05 p.m. in the first game of this weekend series. The Patriots swept the Bluefish last month at TD Bank Ballpark in a three game midweek series.

Last night the Patriots lost 5-3 to the Blue Crabs but outfielder Johnny Drennen did tally his fourth home run of the season. Listen to the audio clip of Drennen’s opposite field blast.

Patriots second baseman Freddie Bynum is currently in the midst of a nine game hitting streak.

Spark Plug

Since outfielder Joe Holden was inserted into the starting lineup, the Patriots are 10-4. Holden is the catalyst for the offense.

Since the calendar turned to June, the Somerset Patriots bullpen has tossed 60.0 innings and allowed just eight earned runs. Players have found their niche in the ‘pen.
