June 29th Game Notes; Bluefish @ Patriots

Bridgewater, NJ – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (29-31) face the Bridgeport Bluefish (25-35) at 7:05 p.m. from the jewel of the Atlantic League that is TD Bank Ballpark. These two flagship franchises will battle for the second time in this four game weekend series. The Patriots won last night 4-2 as they notched their 12th come from behind win of the season.

The Patriots have won five of the seven meetings against the Bluefish this year.

Need Offense

The Patriots have scored four runs or fewer in seven of their last eight games. They are missing team MVP Jesse Hoorelbeke. He is sidelined on the disabled list with a lower back injury. Hoorelbeke is hitting .322, 11 HRs, and 27 RBI.

Patriots’ manager Sparky Lyle is 11 wins away from 1,000 managerial wins in his 15 year Atlantic League career. Nettles is 18 hits away from 1,000 hits in his nine year Atlantic League career.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty Paul Phillips toes the rubber for the Patriots while lefty Paul Oseguera is on the mound for the Ducks. This will be Phillips’ last start for the Patriots in 2012 as he is signing with a team from Taiwan. His flight is tomorrow so he can still pitch today. Phillips is putting up All-Star caliber numbers.
