Central Islip, NY – The Long Island Ducks (3-3, 42-33) edged the Somerset Patriots (2-4, 37-39) 2-1 Wednesday night from Bethpage Ballpark. The game was delayed at the start one hour and sixteen minutes due to rain.

In the bottom of the second inning the Ducks took a 1-0 as second baseman Shawn Williams laced a RBI double down the right field line.

The Ducks added another run in the home half of the fourth frame as right fielder Matt Fleishman recorded a RBI single to give the Ducks a 2-0 advantage.

The Patriots cut the deficit in half in the fifth inning as center fielder Jonny Tucker notched a RBI on a sacrifice fly as the score was 2-1.

Nick Singleton struck out a season high 11 batters in six strong innings of work to earn his second win of the year. Doug Arguello was the tough luck loser as he tossed seven frames but allowed a season-high 10 hits. Jon Hunton registered his sixth save of the 2012 campaign.
