Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 6-5 to earn their 1,000th win in franchise history before 6,028 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday afternoon in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.
The Skeeters rallied to score four runs to start off the game after Bubba Bell grounded into a fielder’s choice to bring home the first run. A few batters later, Steve Moss (5) drove a three run homerun over the left field wall to cap off the scoring drive and give Sugar Land a 4-0 lead.
An RBI single by Bell in the top of the second inning added another run for the Skeeters to make the score 5-3.
Somerset cut the lead to 5-4 in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double by Freddie Bynum.
Donachie (2) drove a solo homerun to left field in the bottom half the fifth to tie the game up at five.
Brandon Braboy (1-0) picked up the win for Somerset after striking out two in 1.2 innings pitched. Garrett Parcell (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing a run in an inning of work. Andrew Dobies earned his second save of the season after pitching a scoreless inning.
