Sugar Land, TX – The Somerset Patriots (9-10, 44-45) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (10-9, 39-50) 4-2 Tuesday night from Constellation Field. These two squads have now split the first two games of this four game midweek series.
The Patriots took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning as catcher Adam Donachie laced a RBI single.
The Skeeters tied the contest at 1-1 in the home half of the third inning as shortstop Amadeo Zuzueta clubbed a solo home run (2) to left field.
In the top of the fourth inning the Patriots responded with three runs to take a 4-1 advantage. Donachie hit another RBI single and center fielder Joe Holden spanked a two RBI single.
In the bottom of the fifth frame third baseman Ofilio Castro hit a RBI sacrifice fly to make the score 4-2 but the Patriots still led.
Derell McCall tossed six solid innings allowing just two runs to earn his fifth win of the season. Scott Kazmir suffered his third loss of the year as he hurled five frames and surrendered four runs. Andrew Dobies notched his third save of the 2012 campaign.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Tuesday August 7th when they return home to take on the Camden Riversharks.
