Sugar Land, TX – The Somerset Patriots (10-11, 45-46) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (11-10, 40-51) 10-6 Thursday night from Constellation Field to earn a split in this four game midweek series. Somerset scored four runs in the final inning to propel themselves to victory. These squads combined to hit seven home runs. Patriots designated hitter Jake Fox finished the contest a single shy of the cycle.

In the bottom of the first inning left fielder Dominic Ramos clubbed a leadoff home run (9) to give the Skeeters a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the second inning first baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke smacked a RBI single to tie the contest at 1-1.

The Patriots took a 4-1 lead in the third inning as third baseman Jeff Nettles registered a bases clearing three run double off the left field wall.

The Skeeters chipped away in the ensuing half inning as first baseman Josh Pressley hit a two run home run (12) to make the score 4-3.

The Skeeters tied the game at 4-4 in the fourth inning on second baseman Iggy Suarez’s solo home run (3) to left field.

Designated hitter Jason Lane gave Sugar Land a 5-4 advantage in the fifth frame as he slugged a solo home run (7).

In the top of the seventh inning with two outs and two strikes, Fox smashed a go ahead two run home run (6) to deep left field to give the Patriots a 6-5 lead.

Sugar Land tied the game at 6-6 in the home half of the seventh inning as Lane blasted his second home run (8) of the game.

The Patriots then sent eight batters to the plate in the ninth inning while scoring four runs. Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez hit a RBI single and Fox clubbed his second two run home run (7) of the game. Catcher Yusuf Carter added a RBI single to make the score 10-6.

Brandon Braboy earned his second win of the season. Will Startup suffered his second loss of the year.

The 2012 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Tuesday August 7th when they return home to take on the Camden Riversharks.
