August 16th Game Notes; Patriots @ Bluefish

Bridgeport, CT – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (16-18, 51-53) visit the Bridgeport Bluefish (17-14, 48-53) at 7:05 p.m. from Harbor Yard in the first game of this four game weekend series. This is the first game of an eight game road trip for Somerset that features stops in Bridgeport and Camden. The Patriots have won six of the first 10 meetings against the Bluefish this year. Last night the Patriots defeated the Revolution 3-0 as Somerset moved within two games of the wild card race of York. Below are the highlights of last night’s shutout courtesy of WCTC.

Derell McCall has been outstanding since being inserted in the rotation in the second half of the season.

Sanchez Sizzling

Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez hit just .212 in the first half of the season but in the second half he has turned his season around. Since the All-Star break he’s hitting .3298 with three home runs and 14 RBI. He had 11 RBI the entire first half.

Four Is The Magic Number

In the second half of the season when the Patriots score four runs or more they are 13-4. When they score three runs or fewer they are 3-14.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty Derell McCall toes the rubber for Somerset while southpaw Dan Serafini is on the hill for the Bluefish.
