Bridgeport, CT – The Somerset Patriots (17-18, 52-53) doubled up the Bridgeport Bluefish (17-15, 48-54) 4-2 Thursday night at Harbor Yard in the first game of this four game weekend series. The Patriots rallied for their 21st come from behind victory scoring three of their four runs in the final two frames.
The Patriots tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth inning as designated hitter Jesse Hoorelbeke slapped a RBI single into center field.
The Bluefish retook the lead in the home half of the sixth inning as right fielder Prentice Redman laced a RBI single to give the Bluefish a 2-1 advantage.
Somerset tied the contest at 2-2 in the eighth inning as Hoorelbeke once again spanked a RBI single into center field.
The Patriots catapulted in front in the top of the ninth as they plated two runs. Second baseman Freddie Bynum hit a RBI single into right field and right fielder Colin Curtis recorded a RBI sacrifice fly to provide some insurance as the Patriots led 4-2 which would be the final.
Julio DePaula suffered his first loss of the season. Carlton Smith earned his second win of the year. Andrew Dobies notched his eighth save in eight opportunities as he tossed a scoreless ninth inning.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, August 24th when they return home to take on the York Revolution.
