Camden, NJ – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (18-20, 53-55) visit the Camden Riversharks (14-21, 48-56) at 7:05 p.m. from Campbell’s Field in the first game of this four game midweek series. Last night the Patriots lost a four hour and 29 minute 13 inning affair against Bridgeport 5-4. Despite the loss, there were some positive moments. The Patriots are just 6-10 against the Riversharks in 2012. This is a Central Jersey vs. South Jersey rivalry.
Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez hit just .212 in the first half of the season but in the second half he has turned his season around. Since the All-Star break he’s hitting .322 with three home runs and 16 RBI. He had 11 RBI the entire first half.
Four Is The Magic Number
In the second half of the season when the Patriots score four runs or more they are 15-5. When they score three runs or fewer they are 3-15.
The Patriots are 9-3 when Freddie Bynum bats leadoff. The All-Star ignites the team and provides a spark.
