Bridgewater, NJ – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (22-23, 57-58) host the Lancaster Barnstormers (27-16, 72-41) in the first game of this four game midweek series featuring these Freedom Division Foes from TD Bank Ballpark. Lancaster will be a tough test as they won the Freedom Division first half and have the best overall record of the eight teams in the Atlantic League.

First baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke has been the most consistent Somerset Patriot in 2012

Sanchez Sizzling

Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez hit just .212 in the first half of the season but in the second half he has turned his season around. Since the All-Star break he’s hitting .319 with three home runs and 18 RBI. He had 11 RBI the entire first half. He has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games.

These two squads have the best team ERAs in the Atlantic League. Lancaster has the best mark (3.62) while Somerset has the second best mark (3.66).


Patriots first baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke is on a seven game hitting streak which ties his longest streak of the year. He leads the team in HRs (16), BA (.302) and t-2nd in RBI (41).

Lefty Doug Arguello toes the rubber for Somerset while righty hurler Alan Johnson is on the hill for the Barnstormers.
