Bridgewater, NJ – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (22-24, 57-59) host the Lancaster Barnstormers (28-16, 73-41) in the second game of this four game midweek series featuring these Freedom Division Foes at TD Bank Ballpark. The Barnstormers won the opener last night by a score of 7-3. Lancaster won the Freedom Division first half and has the best overall record of the eight teams in the Atlantic League.

Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez hit just .212 in the first half of the season but in the second half he has turned his season around. Since the All-Star break he’s hitting .321 with three home runs and 18 RBI. He had 11 RBI the entire first half. He has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games.
The Patriots are just 3-11 against the Barnstormers in 2012 and have lost 10 of their last 11 against the Butch Hobson’s club.
Pitching’s The Name Of The Game
These two squads have the best team ERAs in the Atlantic League. Lancaster has the best mark (3.63) while Somerset has the second best mark (3.69).
Corey’s Clutch Against ‘Stormers
Corey Smith plays very well against the Lancaster Barnstormers. In four games this season Smith is 7-for-16 (.438) with 2 HRs and 6 RBI. Five of his seven hits have gone for extra bases. Last night Smith was a homer shy of the cycle.

Righty Justin Cassel toes the rubber for Somerset while southpaw John Halama is on the hill for the Barnstormers. Cassel has the 3rd best ERA in the AL while Halama has the 5th best ERA in the AL.
