September 3rd Game Notes; Patriots @ Ducks

Central Islip, NY – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (24-28, 59-63) visit the Long Island Ducks (15-34, 54-64) in the first game of this three game midweek series from Bethpage Ballpark. Happy Labor Day to all! The Ducks are 10-4 against the Patriots in 2012 and they won the first half Liberty Division Title. Yesterday afternoon the Patriots edged the Bluefish 5-4 in the rubber match of the series. Below are audio highlights of the victory courtesy of WCTC.

Sanchez Sizzling

Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez hit just .212 in the first half of the season but in the second half he has turned his season around. Since the All-Star break he’s hitting .325 with three home runs and 22 RBI. He had 11 RBI the entire first half. He has hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games.

Holden Heating Up

Center fielder Joe Holden is in the midst of a season-high nine game hitting streak.

Lefty Chase Wright toes the rubber for Somerset while righty hurler Chris McCoy is on the hill for the Ducks.
