Bridgewater, NJ – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (29-36, 64-71) host the Long Island Ducks (21-43, 60-73) in the second game of this mini two game midweek series from TD Bank Ballpark. The Patriots won in 17 innings last night 3-2 as Dan Hennigan hit a walk-off RBI fielder’s choice. The 17 inning affair tied a Patriots franchise record for longest game in terms of innings. The Ducks, who won the First Half Liberty Division Title, are 11-7 against Somerset in 2012.

Smith Surging

Corey Smith became just the third Patriot this season to have a multi home run game joining Jesse Hoorelbeke and Jake Fox. Below are the highlights of Smith’s two solo blasts from last night’s game courtesy of WCTC.

The Patriots bullpen dating back to game two of the doubleheader on Saturday against York has thrown 16 consecutive scoreless innings.

Power Ball

The Patriots have surrendered the second most home runs as a pitching staff (121) in the Atlantic League while the Ducks have surrendered the most home runs as a pitching staff (127) in the Atlantic League.

Lefty Doug Arguello toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow southpaw Randy Keisler is on the hill for the Ducks.
