Sanchez Does It Again For Patriots In 6-3 Win

brad thompsonBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 6-3 in a rain shortened game at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.

Yunesky Sanchez’s three-run home run (2) in the bottom of the sixth gave the Patriots the lead before the game was called in the top of the eighth inning with two outs.

Southern Maryland jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first after Brian Barton came around to score on an error.

The Blue Crabs added to their lead in the second on an RBI base hit by Jose Salas for the 2-0 advantage.

The Patriots got on the board in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly by Joe Holden to make the score 2-1.

An RBI groundout by Jonny Tucker in the fourth inning evened up the score at two for Somerset.

The Blue Crabs regained the lead in the top of the sixth on a solo homerun by Cesar Nicolas (1) for the 3-2 advantage.

Brad Thompson (1-0) picked up the win, allowing three runs on eight hits in six innings pitched. Peter Sikaras (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on two hits in two innings pitched. Derell McCall earned the save (1).
