Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty Mitch Atkins (1-0, 1.80 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while southpaw Jeremy Sowers (0-0, 1.80 ERA) will take the hill for the Blue Crabs.

Mitch Atkins cruised through five solid frames in his first start of his Patriots career last Sunday. He struck out six Blue Crabs while only walking one. He has a nasty slider which is his out pitch.

Jeremy Sowers got a no decision against the Revolution last Monday. He’s a former first round draft pick by the Cleveland Indians in 2004. He did not play the last two years as he rehabbed from reconstructive left shoulder surgery.

Sanchez Sizzling

Yunesky Sanchez leads the league in homers (5) and RBI (14). He’s also hitting .375. He has hit safely in seven of the eight games this year.

Power Surge

Somerset has homered in seven of their first eight games which is impressive considering they were last in the Atlantic League in home runs hit in 2012. This year they have hit the most homers of any of the eight squads.

Fantastic Fox

Jake Fox is hitting .375 and has a team high seven game hitting streak.
