Bridgewater, NJ – Today the Somerset Patriots (25-11) host the Lancaster Barnstormers (19-20) at TD Bank Ballpark for the rubber game of this three game midweek series featuring these Freedom Division foes. Breakfast and baseball as first pitch is at 11:05 a.m. Download today’s comprehensive game notes. These two squads split a single admission doubleheader yesterday with Lancaster winning game won 3-2 and Somerset winning game two 8-0.

Yesterday Adam Donachie recorded a mutli-hit game while tallying four RBI in game two of the doubleheader. The following is the audio clip courtesy of WCTC of his bases clearing three RBI double in the first inning.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty Josh Lowey (4-1, 3.81 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow righty hurler Will Savage (3-3, 4.17 ERA) will take the hill for the Barnstormers.

Freedom Division Update

The Sugar Land Skeeters (30-9) currently lead the Freedom Division by 3.5 games over the Patriots. Somerset has played three fewer games than Sugar Land.

Eggy’s Sunny Side Up

Ahron Eggleston is the midst of an eight game hitting streak in which over that span he is hitting .469 (15-for-32).

After tallying zero homers through his first 23 games, Corey Smith now has six home runs over his last 13 games.

Eddy Martinez-Esteve leads the Atlantic League in batting average hitting at a tremendous .394 clip. He has a comfortable 44 point lead over the next best hitter in the league which is Steve Moss of Sugar Land. Martinez-Esteve has hit safely in 15 of his last 16 games and has 11 multi-hit games over his last 16 contests.

Better Than Average

The Patriots have four players in the top 15 in the Atlantic League in batting average: Martinez-Esteve (1st .394), Smith (T-5th, .328), Montanez (10th, .320), Fox (14th, .311)


Jake Fox is second in the AL in RBI (32). Luis Montanez is tied for third in the AL in RBI (31). Corey Smith has the sixth most RBI (28) in the AL.

The Patriots are 22-5 when they score four or more runs. The Patriots are 3-6 when they score 3 or fewer runs.
