Sugar Land, TX – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (27-11) visit the Sugar Land Skeeters (31-10) for the second game a pivotal four game wrap around weekend series featuring these Freedom Division foes. Somerset rallied for their 12th come from behind victory of the season in a dramatic affair winning 8-4 in the series opener. The following are audio highlights courtesy of WCTC…

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty David Harden (5-0, 5.10 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow righty hurler Adam Miller (1-0, 0.98 ERA) will take the hill for the Skeeters.

Freedom Division Update

The Sugar Land Skeeters (31-10) currently lead the Freedom Division by 2.5 games over the Patriots. Somerset has played three fewer games than Sugar Land. These are 2-2 against each other thus far in 2013.

Eggy’s Sunny Side Up

Ahron Eggleston is the midst of a 10 game hitting streak in which over that span he is hitting .452 (19-for-42).

Something Has To Give

The Patriots have the best team batting average (.307) in the Atlantic League while the Skeeters have the best team ERA (2.59) in the Atlantic League.

Gone But Not Forgotten

Josh Pressley was a five time All-Star, two time Atlantic League Champion and 2008 MVP with Somerset. This year the former Patriot is 8-for-17 (.471) against his former ball club.

Jake Can Rake

Jake Fox leads the Atlantic League with 13 home runs.

Getting Smitty With It

After tallying zero homers through his first 23 games, Corey Smith now has seven home runs over his last 15 games.

E-Mart Swag

Eddy Martinez-Esteve leads the Atlantic League in batting average hitting at a tremendous .396 clip. He has a comfortable 49 point lead over the next best hitter in the league which is Brian Burgamy of York. Martinez-Esteve has hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games and has 12 multi-hit games over his last 18 contests. He currently has an eight game hitting streak.

Better Than Average

The Patriots have four players in the top 10 in the Atlantic League in batting average: Martinez-Esteve (1st .396), Montanez (4th, .338), Smith (T-9th, .322), Fox (T-9th, .322)

Fantastic Four

The Patriots are 24-5 when they score four or more runs. The Patriots are 3-6 when they score 3 or fewer runs.
