The Patriots won game one of the double header 1-0.
The Patriots and Riversharks battled back and forth and were scoreless through seven innings.
Jake Fox led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a game winning solo homerun to left field to put the Patriots on top 1-0. The home run was Fox’s league leading 20th of the season.
Patriots closer Jon Hunton (1-3) got the win after tossing a scoreless eighth inning. Jon Velasquez (0-1) suffered the loss for Camden after surrendering the game winning homerun to Fox in the eighth.
The Patriots beat the Riversharks 5-3 in game two of the double-header.
Camden struck first in the top of the second inning on an RBI double by Yasser Gomez for the 1-0 lead.
Somerset evened the score at one in the bottom half of the frame after Cory Aldridge scored on a balk.
The Riversharks scored to answer right back in the third after Wilson Valdez scored on a throwing error by catcher Adam Donachie to take a 2-1 lead.
The Patriots rallied to take their first lead of the game in the bottom of the third on RBI sacrifice fly balls by Corey Smith and Jeff Baisley to make the score 3-2.
A two run double by Eddy Martinez-Esteve in the fourth tacked on two more runs for Somerset and increased their lead to 5-2.
Camden was able to cut the lead to 5-3 in the sixth on an RBI base hit by Billy Rice.
Patriots starter Erik Arnesen (5-1) got the win after allowing three runs in 5.2 innings pitched. Riversharks starter Mike McGuire (2-4) suffered the loss after giving up five runs on four hits in 3.2 innings pitched. Jon Hunton came on to pitch the seventh inning to pick up his 18th save of the season.
