Sugar Land, TX – The Somerset Patriots (3-8, 49-32) snapped their six game losing Tuesday night from Constellation Field as they shutout the Sugar Land Skeeters (9-2, 56-25) 4-0 in front of 4,005 fans.
Graham Taylor was brilliant as he threw a complete game, two hit, 116 pitch gem that propelled Somerset to its first win in 10 days.
In the top of the fifth inning Somerset perfectly executed a double steal as left fielder Aharon Eggleston stole second base then second baseman Jeff Baisley broke for home and scored to give the Patriots a 1-0 advantage.
Somerset plated three runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 4-0 lead which would be the final. Right fielder Cory Aldridge sliced a RBI single to left-center field. Pinch hitter Eddy Martinez-Esteve roped a RBI single through the left side and an additional run scored on a passed ball by catcher Koby Clemens.
Taylor (6-4) became the first Patriot to hurl a complete game nine inning shutout this year. Clint Everts (2-2) suffered the loss in relief.
The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Thursday, July 18th when the Patriots return home to take on the Lancaster Barnstormers at 7:05 p.m. The game features Jewish Heritage Night presented by the Jewish National Fund.
