July 17th Game Notes; Patriots @ Skeeters

Sugar Land, TX – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (3-8, 49-32) visit the Sugar Land Skeeters (9-2, 56-25) for the finale game of a lengthy six game series featuring these Freedom Division foes. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. eastern time at Constellation Field. Download today’s comprehensive game notes. The Skeeters have won four of the five contests. This is the final game for Somerset in Texas in the regular season.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty Erik Arnesen (7-1, 3.60 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow righty hurler Scott Elarton (4-6, 5.13 ERA) will take the hill for the Skeeters.

Getting Smitty With It

All-Star game MVP Corey Smith has hit safely in 14 of his last 16 games. He is 9-for-19 with two walks in the series thus far. He is the only Patriots player to start every game this season. He was just tabbed the Atlantic League Player of the Week.

All-Star Eddy Martinez-Esteve is tied for the Atlantic League lead in batting average (.344) with Lancaster’s Jerry Owens.

Jake Fox leads the Atlantic League in home runs with 21 and RBI with 66.

Offensive Juggernaut

The Patriots have smacked 77 home runs which is tied for second most in the Atlantic League. Somerset has also scored the most runs (441) in the Atlantic League while boasting the team batting average (.282) and are tied for most walks (283) drawn.

Fantastic Four

The Patriots are 42-11 when they score four or more runs. The Patriots are 7-21 when they score 3 or fewer runs.
