Sugar Land, TX – The Sugar Land Skeeters (10-2, 57-25) shutout the Somerset Patriots (3-9, 49-33) 5-0 Wednesday night from Constellation Field in front of 4,621 fans. The Skeeters won five of the six games against the Patriots in the lengthy series featuring these Freedom Division foes.
In the bottom of the third inning shortstop Kevin Rios yanked a home run (2) to left field to give Sugar Land an early 1-0 advantage.
The Skeeters plated a pair of runs in the home half of the fourth frame to take a 3-0 lead. Designated hitter Josh Pressley hit a RBI single and first baseman Aaron Bates recorded a RBI via a sacrifice fly.
Catcher Travis Scott pounded a two run home run (6) to deep right field in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the score 5-0 which would be the final score.
Scott Elarton (5-6) earned the win tossing seven innings while scattering just four hits. Erik Arnesen (7-2) suffered his first loss since April 24th as he hurled seven innings allowing just three hits and three runs.
