Bridgewater, NJ- The Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the Somerset Patriots 6-5 in front of 7,356 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.
The Barnstormers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Travis Denker (13) and Olmo Rosario (9) hit back-to-back home runs and a run scored on an error that allowed Jason Taylor to reach safely.
Lancaster added a run in the top of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Dayton Buller that made the score 4-0.
Somerset got on the board in the bottom of the fifth on a two run single by Aharon Eggleston to cut the lead to 4-2.
The Barnstormers added to the lead on a sacrifice fly by Buller that made the score 5-2 in the eighth inning.
Lancaster scored again in the top of the ninth inning on an RBI double by Ryan Harvey to make the score 6-2.
A bases loaded RBI single by Jonny Tucker, followed by a two-run double by Eggleston in the bottom of the ninth made the score 6-5. With the tying run on third, Jake Fox popped out to end the game.
Dwayne Pollok (10-3) picked up the win, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits in six innings pitched. Brad Thompson (5-5) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in six innings pitched. Jason Urquidez earned his 18th save of the season.
