The Patriots broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning after an RBI double by Bobby Stevens brought home Angel Sanchez for the 6-5 lead. They extended their lead later in the inning after Adam Donachie scored on a fielder’s choice and Aharon Eggleston (8) blasted a two run homerun for the 9-5 final.
Somerset struck first on back-to-back bases loaded walks to Stevens and Dan Hennigan in the second for the 2-0 lead.
Jeff Baisley (7) drove a two run homerun over the right field wall the following inning to tack on two more runs for the Patriots to increase their lead to 4-0.
The Patriots plated another run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Baisley to give him his third RBI of the game and make the score 5-0.
Lancaster rallied to plate five runs in the sixth highlighted by RBI base hits by Jason Taylor, Blake Gailen, and Olmo Rosario to even the score up at five.
Patriots reliever Cedrick Bowers (1-0) picked up the win after tossing two scoreless innings while striking out four. Zach Braddock (0-1) got the loss for Lancaster, allowing two runs on two hits and not retiring a batter.
