Starting Pitching Matchup
Righty Erik Arnesen (1-0, 5.14 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while righty hurler Bob Zimmermann (1-0, 1.50 ERA) will take the hill for the Flock. Erik Arnesen is 1-0 with a 6.09 ERA in four starts against the Flock. Bob Zimmermann is 0-1 with a 6.28 ERA in five appearances against the Pats.
The Patriots have made the playoffs for the first time since 2010. The Ducks are looking to join the Patriots and Revolution as the only teams to win back-to-back titles in Atlantic League history.
The Somerset Patriots and Long Island Ducks have been fierce rivals since 2000. The Patriots lead the all-time series 134-133. The Patriots went 12-8 against the Ducks in the regular season.
The Patriots have won five Atlantic League titles. The Ducks have won two. This is the first time these two teams have met in the Championship Series. This is Somerset’s ninth Championship appearance. This is Long Island’s fourth Championship appearance.
