Bridgewater, NJ – Today the Somerset Patriots (35-20) host the Bridgeport Bluefish (19-35) for a doubleheader. This is due from a rainout from a contest schedule previously on June 9th. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. from TD Bank Ballpark. Download today’s comprehensive game notes. Each game will be seven innings and there will be a 30 minute break in between. Somerset is 3-1 against Bridgeport in 2014.
Last night Matt Zielinski became the fourth different Patriots pitcher to toss a complete game. Here is the audio clip of how the final out sounded as the Patriots won the series opener 5-1.
Starting Pitching Matchup Game One
Righty Derell McCall (3-2, 4.30 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while southpaw Hunter Jones (3-4, 3.89 ERA) takes the hill for the Fish.
Starting Pitching Matchup Game Two
Righty Gary Moran (3-3, 5.12 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while southpaw Jesse English (0-0, 8.81 ERA) takes the hill for the Fish.
Somerset leads Long Island by 3.0 games in the first half Liberty Division race. Somerset went 6-4 against Long Island in the first half so if these two squads finished tied after 70 games then Somerset would hold the tie breaker because the Patriots won the first half head-to-head series. The magic number is 12 (combination of Patriots wins and/or Ducks losses).
The Patriots have won six of their last seven games. The Bluefish have lost four straight.
The Patriots are 30-3 when they score four runs or more but only 5-17 when they score three runs or fewer.
Ty Wright has hit safely in 15 of his last 17 games
Adam Donachie has 10 RBI in his last six games
Lucky Number Seven
The Patriots are 25-1 when they lead after seven innings
