Patriots Salvage Series With 11-8 Win Over Revolution

York, PA – The Somerset Patriots (29-23, 76-46) defeated the York Revolution (29-23, 70-52) 11-8 Monday evening from Santander Stadium. The victory snapped Somerset’s three game losing streak. SEPT1GRAPHIC

In the top of the first inning the Patriots jumped out to a 2-0 lead as left fielder Aharon Eggleston sprayed a RBI double and designated hitter Corey Smith stroked a RBI single.

York tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the first as third baseman Travis Garcia crushed a two run home run (14).

Catcher Shea Harris served a go ahead RBI single in the top of the second inning to put Somerset in front 3-2. Audio of the hit.

Right fielder Justin Greene punched a RBI single in the bottom of the second inning to even the contest at 3-3.

The Patriots retook the lead in the top of the fourth inning as they plated three runs making the score 6-3. Third baseman Brian Barden and Harris each poked RBI singles while second baseman Jeff Dominguez recorded a RBI double. Audio of Shea’s second big knock.

The Revolution got a run back in the ensuing half inning as catcher Alberto Espinosa tallied a RBI single cutting the deficit to 6-4.

Somerset added a run in the top of the fifth inning as first baseman Daryle Ward cranked a RBI double increasing the lead to 7-4.

In the top of the sixth inning the Patriots batted around and scored four times to take an 11-4 advantage. Pinch hitter Adam Donachie hit a home run (8) audio, Smith hit a RBI double, Ward hit a RBI single and another run came across via a throwing error from shortstop Wilson Valdez.

York responded with four runs of their own in the home half of the sixth inning to cut the margin to 11-8. Espinosa hit and Garcia hit RBI single, a run scored via a wild pitch hurled by Cory Harrilchak and second baseman Eric Patterson brought home via a RBI groundout.

David Harden (2-5) earned the win tossing five innings while scattering four runs. Alain Quijano (10-8) sustained the loss surrendering 11 runs on 14 hits. Jon Hunton notched his Atlantic League leading 43rd save.
