Camden, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (34-28, 81-51) defeated the Camden Riversharks (23-39, 46-87) 5-2 Friday evening from Campbell’s Field. SEPT12thGRAPHIC

In the top of the first inning pitcher Nick DeBarr hurled a wild pitch to plate first baseman Jeff Dominguez to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage.

Somerset scored four times in the top of the second inning to grab a 5-0 lead. A run was plated via a fielding error by shortstop Brandon Chaves and third baseman Corey Smith cranked a three run home run (13).

Third baseman Bryan Pounds pounded a home run (16) in the bottom of the fourth frame to make the contest 5-1.

The Riversharks received a RBI single from designated hitter Paddy Matera in the home half of the eighth inning to make the score 5-2.

Matt Maloney (10-8) earned the tossing a season-high 7.2 innings while scattering two runs. DeBarr (1-3) sustained the loss hurling six innings while surrendering five runs. Jon Hunton notched his Atlantic League leading 46th save.
