Somerset Patriots Re-Sign Jonny Tucker

tuckernewsBridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots have announced the re-signing of outfielder Jonny Tucker.

Tucker hit .262 with 68 runs scored, 109 hits, 16 doubles, and 34 RBI in 107 games played for Somerset in 2014.

“We are very happy to have Jonny back with us this season.  He does a great job for our organization both on and off the field. He is all about winning baseball games and he comes to the park everyday with that as his goal.  His preparation allows him to be at peak performance level each and every game,” said Brett Jodie, Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

Tucker became one of the clubhouse leaders for the Patriots during the 2013 season, finishing with a .262 batting average, 85 runs, 137 hits, 18 doubles, seven triples, 56 RBI, and 25 stolen bases in 132 games played.

Tucker hit .252 with 92 hits, 13 doubles, 31 RBI, and 16 stolen bases for Somerset in 2012. He was signed by the Washington Nationals organization and reported to Double-A for 22 games that season.

Tucker also had prior experience in the Nationals and Baltimore Orioles organizations, including two seasons at the Triple-A level.

Tucker played 75 games in Double-A in 2011. For Harrisburg he had 50 hits and 23 RBI.

He has a career .258 average, 605 runs, 991 hits, 174 doubles, 33 triples, 25 home runs, and 362 RBI in 1,073 games played.

“Tuck makes the guys around him better and guys look to him for direction and leadership. His athletic ability speaks for itself as he is a spark plug at the plate and a tremendous defender in the outfield and infield,” added Jodie.

In other team news, the Somerset Patriots have traded the rights to shortstop Edwin Maysonet with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs for the rights to catcher James Skelton.
