Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (11-6) defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers (6-14) 4-1 Wednesday evening from TD Bank Ballpark. Patriots starting pitcher Mickey Storey had a no-hitter for 6.2 innings before surrendering a home run on his 77th pitch of the ball game.
Catcher Adam Donachie slugged a grand slam (1) in the bottom of the first inning to give Somerset a 4-0 advantage.
Lancaster got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning when shortstop Lance Zawadzki cranked a home run (3) to break up the no-hitter and cut the deficit to 4-1.
Storey earned the win (3-0) tossing seven brilliant innings allowing just one run on one hit while striking out five batters and walking just one. Matt Packer suffered the loss (2-2) hurling six frames while allowing four runs on nine hits. Jon Hunton notched the save (4) pitching a scoreless final inning.
