Bridgeport, CT – The Somerset Patriots (24-11) defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish (16-19) 4-3 in game one of a day-night doubleheader at Harbor Yard Sunday afternoon. maaay31FINALgm1

In the top of the third inning center fielder Jonny Tucker cranked a home run (2) to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage.

Bridgeport evened the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning as center fielder James Simmons recorded a RBI groundout.

The Patriots stormed back to grab a 3-1 lead in the ensuing half inning as shortstop Scott Kelly ripped a two RBI double.

The Bluefish responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning as first baseman Andres Rodriguez hammered a two RBI double to tie the game at 3-3.

Designated hitter Mat Gamel blooped a RBI single to give Somerset a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning.

Buddy Boshers earned the win (1-0) in relief. Sam Gervacio endured the loss (1-2) in relief. Jon Hunton notched the save (7) as he pitched the final inning.
