Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (36-16) split a doubleheader with the Bridgeport Bluefish (20-31) Wednesday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.
The Bridgeport Bluefish shutout the Somerset Patriots 3-0 in game one of the doubleheader.
In the top of the fifth inning the Bluefish scored three runs to grab a 3-0 lead. Both first baseman John Alonso and left fielder Ethan Chapman each drew bases loaded walks while third baseman Frazier Hall hit a RBI groundout.
Matt Iannazzo earned the win (2-2) tossing five scoreless frames. Andrew Carignan suffered the loss (0-2) in relief. Patrick Mincey notched the save (5) pitching the final inning.

In the bottom of the first inning shortstop Scott Kelly stroked a RBI single to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage.
Bridgeport evened the contest at 1-1 in the top of the third inning when right fielder Welington Dotel hit a RBI groundout.
The Patriots retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when left fielder Aharon Eggleston drew a bases loaded walk and first baseman Thomas Neal banged into a double play that scored a run to make the score 3-1 in favor of Somerset.
The Bluefish rallied to tie the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning when catcher Jobduan Morales clubbed a two RBI double.
It was Somerset’s seventh walk-off win of the year and Vidal’s second walk-off hit of 2015.
Jon Hunton earned the win (1-1) in relief. Sam Gervacio suffered the loss in relief (2-4).
