Bridgewater, NJ – Today the Somerset Patriots (12-0) host the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (2-9) for a split admission day-night doubleheader. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 11:05 a.m. and will be seven innings. First pitch of game two is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and will be nine innings. Both take place from TD Bank Ballpark. This is a rematch of last year’s Championship Series and the 2009 Championship Series.

Lefty Efrain Nieves (1-0, 1.00 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow southpaw Brian Burres (0-1, 3.11 ERA) will toss for Southern Maryland.

The Patriots are off to the best start by a team in Atlantic League history. They have rattled off 12 straight wins to usher in 2016. The previous record was York winning seven straight to start 2011.
The longest winning streak in Atlantic League history was accomplished by Somerset in the year 2000. They won 15 in a row.
Somerset has six come from behind wins this season. Twice they have erased three run deficits. They have four one-run wins, four last at bat wins and three extra inning wins.
