PLATINUM ANNIVERSARY: 2017 is Somerset’s 20th season as a franchise, an achievement that will be celebrated all season long. Having already won an Atlantic League-record six championships, the Patriots look looking to make it seven league titles in their 20th season of action.

MAJOR EXPERIENCE: This year’s version of the Somerset Patriots features a whopping 11 players who have spent time on an MLB roster, as well as nine additional players who have service at the Triple-A level.

CONGRATS ARE IN ORDER: On Saturday, April 29th, left-handed pitcher Jeremy Bleich’s contract was purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He is reporting directly to Triple-A Oklahoma City. He is the first Somerset Patriot to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization this year.

DARR-RUN FORD: In Ford’s return to the lineup (5/1), the former MLBer went 3-4 with three runs and two stolen bases. Ford has hit safely in five of the seven games in which he has played this year, ranks third in the league in steals (6) and carries a .423 average. Additionally, the Patriots are 5-1 in games in which Ford has played at least two innings.

CARDIAC PATS: Through the first 11 games of the season, Somerset has gone to extra innings three times, winning all three games with a walk-off. The Patriots had 11 walk-off wins in the regular season last year, and one additional walk-off win in the postseason (Game 1, LDCS vs. Long Island).

IN THE ‘NICK OF TIME: First-year Patriot infielder Tyler Bortnick has gotten off to a strong start, ranking second on the team in steals (4) and fifth on the team in batting (.324). Bortnick also is tied for sixth in the league in steals and is currently riding a seven-game on-base streak, dating back to April 23rd.

TICKLE ME OLMO: Utilityman Olmo Rosario hit safely in eight of his first nine games as a Somerset Patriot, including three multi-hit games. The former Barnstormer is 12-34 to begin the year and has made starts in the field at 3B, LF and RF. He is also tied with Carlos Guzman for second on the team in RBI (6).

STARTING EXPERIENCE: Four of the five pitchers in the Somerset Patriots starting rotation have had service at the Major League level (Darnell, Atkins, Laffey and Cloyd). Lucas Irvine, the team’s 5th starter, finished sixth in the Atlantic League in 2015 in ERA (3.41)

TOP 20: All season long, the Somerset Patriots will be unveiling their Top 20 players in franchise history. Three-year Somerset Patriots INF Corey Smith was just named the 19th greatest Somerset Patriot of all time. Follow along all season to find out who will join him!
