PLATINUM ANNIVERSARY: 2017 is Somerset’s 20th season as a franchise, an achievement that will be celebrated all season long. Having already won an Atlantic League-record six championships, the Patriots look looking to make it seven league titles in their 20th season of action.

MAJOR EXPERIENCE: This year’s version of the Somerset Patriots features a whopping 11 players who have spent time on an MLB roster, as well as nine additional players who have service at the Triple-A level.

WEST COAST DREAMIN’: Three Somerset Patriots have had their contracts purchased by Major League organizations in 2017. Left-handed pitchers Jeremy Bleich (April 29th) and Logan Darnell (May 9th) both had their contracts purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers and reported directly to Triple-A Oklahoma City. RHP Tyler Cloyd (May 10th) had his contract purchased by the Seattle Mariners and will report to Triple-A Tacoma.

YO GONZA GONZA: Second-year Patriot Yovan Gonzalez has reached base safely in all 13 games he has played this season, including a team-high seven-game hit streak (4/28 – 5/6). Gonzalez is currently three plate appearances shy of qualifying among league-leaders in batting, but his .378 average would otherwise lead the Atlantic League.

PATIENCE A VIRTUE: Through the first 20 games of the season, Somerset leads in the Atlantic League in walks as a team (76). Equally impressive, the Patriots have also struck out the least amount of times in the league (119).

DRAMA IN JERSEY: Four of the first 10 home games for the Somerset Patriots this season have gone into extra innings. Additionally, another game   (5/6 vs. York) was decided in the bottom of the ninth. Somerset has six wins in its last at-bat this year, including four walk-off wins at home.

KYLER ON FYLER: Fourth-year Patriots reliever Kyler Newby has gotten off to a lights-out start to begin the season, tossing 7.0 scoreless innings in his first seven appearances. Additionally, Newby has allowed only one hit this year, yielded just one walk and has one of two saves for the team. He is one of three pitchers on the team yet to allow an earned run (Vin Mazzaro, Ronnie Shaban).

WELCOME ABOARD: The Patriots have recently signed two Major Leaguers, RHP Vin Mazzaro and RHP Jerome Williams (and RHP Will Oliver), who come to Somerset with a combined 19 seasons of service in the big leagues.

TOP 20: All season long, the Somerset Patriots will be unveiling their Top 20 players in franchise history. Infielder David Vidal was just named the 17th greatest Patriot of all time. Follow along all season to find out who will join him!
