PLATINUM ANNIVERSARY: 2017 is Somerset’s 20th season as a franchise, an achievement that will be celebrated all season long. Having already won an Atlantic League-record six championships, the Patriots look looking to make it seven league titles in their 20th season of action.

CONGRATS ARE IN ORDER: Six Patriots have had their contracts purchased by MLB organizations in 2017. LHPs Jeremy Bleich (4/29) & Logan Darnell (5/9) both had their contracts purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers, RHPs Tyler Cloyd (5/10) & Ryan Kelly (5/17) had their contracts purchased by the Seattle Mariners, LHP Aaron Laffey (5/15) went to the Arizona Diamondbacks and RHP Vin Mazzaro (5/18) is heading to the Cincinnati Reds. All six reported directly to their respective Triple-A affiliates. There have been 12 total players in the league this year who’s contracts have been purchased this year by Major League organizations; six of whom from Somerset.

YO GONZA GONZA: Second-year Patriot Yovan Gonzalez has reached base safely in 20 of the 22 games he has played this season, including a seven-game hit streak (4/28 – 5/6). Gonzalez is currently on a six-game hit streak and is seven plate appearances (has 88, needs 95) shy of qualifying among league-leaders in batting, but his .360 average would otherwise rank third in the Atlantic League.

CLASSIC GUZY: Second-year Patriot Carlos Guzman has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games, including the last four-straight. Over that stretch, Guzman is 18-46 (.391), eight runs, eight RBI, and three SB, raising his average from .208 to .261.

SCOTTY DOES KNOW: Infielder Scott Kelly has turned it on as of late, recording a hit in 13 of his last 16 games. Over that stretch, the fourth-year Patriot is 18-56 (.321) with 10 runs scored, 10 RBI and five SB.

SANDS(TORM): Former MLBer Jerry Sands has reached base in 18-straight games, including a 10-game hit streak (5/9 – 5/17). Over that stretch, Sands is 23-62 (.371) with 6 HR, 22 RBI and 16 runs. Sands currently leads the league in RBI (33), XBH (21) & SLG (.598), tied for 1st in 2B (13) and tied for 2nd in HR (8).

WELCOME ABOARD: The Patriots have recently signed infielder Kyle Roller & outfielder Greg Golson. Roller enters his 2nd year in Somerset (.284/10/40 in 52 games), while the former MLBer Golson enters his 1st year w/ Patriots.

YOU DONE RIGHT, A-AHARON: 5th-year outfielder Aharon Eggleston currently ranks eighth in the Atlantic League in batting (.312), and is 13-34 (.382) over his last 10 games with a home run, six RBI and a stolen base.

TOP 20: All season long, the Somerset Patriots will be unveiling their Top 20 players in franchise history. INF Jake Fox was just named the 15th greatest Patriot of all time. Follow along all season to find out who will join him!
