TOPS IN THE LEAGUE: 16 Patriots have had their contracts purchased in 2017: 11 by MLB organizations. LHPs Jeremy Bleich, Logan Darnell (twice) & Aaron Laffey along w/ RHPs Tyler Cloyd, Ryan Kelly, Vin Mazzaro, Mitch Atkins, INF Tyler Bortnick & OFs Jerry Sands and Christian Marrero had theirs’ purchased this season. RHPs Scott McGregor and David Kubiak w/ LHP Rick Teasley (Taiwan), INF Olmo Rosario (2X, Mexico) also had their contracts’ purchased.

MERRY CLINCH-MAS: Having won the first half Liberty Division Championship, the Somerset Patriots have clinched a playoff berth and have now won an Atlantic League-record 18 half championships, including eight first-half championships.

COUNTDOWN TO 1,000: Carlos Guzman is currently just 12 hits away from 1,000 over his professional career (all levels). The second-year Patriot currently leads the team in hits (97), at-bats (384), games (101) and ranks 2nd in RBI (50).

WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER BEGINS: The Patriots are 10-13 in August. As a team, Somerset is hitting .254 – their 2nd-lowest in any month this year – while the pitching staff is carrying a 4.48 ERA – highest of the season.

ROLL WITH THE CHANGES: Kyle Roller has reached base in 19 of his last 23 games (hits in 14-of-23). Over that stretch, Roller has six home runs, 21 RBI and 15 BB. Despite 69 games this year, he ranks T-fifth in the league in home runs (18), T-10th in RBI (58) and would lead the league in SLG (.583) if qualified.

IT’S A TRAPP: Justin Trapp has reached base in 13 of 15 games, including hits in 11-of-15. Over this stretch, Trapp is 18-for-48 (.375) with seven 2B, eight walks, 10 runs and 11 RBI. He has also reached base in 20 of his 25 starts.

TRUST THE FORCE, LUKE: RHP Lucas Irvine earned his team-leading eighth win of the year on 8/19. Six of his last nine starts have been quality starts, yielding two runs or less in eight of his last nine. He is 4-1 over this stretch with a 2.39 ERA (14 ER over 52.2 IP), lowering his ERA from 4.91 to 3.76.

ALL ANTOL-IN: RHP Dustin Antolin has yet to give up an earned run since joining the Patriots. The former Toronto Blue Jay has spanned 14.0 innings in 13 total appearances, striking out 22 batters compared to just three walks.

E-XCELLENT STRETCH: LHP Efrain Nieves has tossed quality starts in six of his last seven, dating back to 7/19. Over this stretch, Nieves is 1-3 with a 2.53 ERA (12 ER in 42.2 IP) and 37 strikeouts, lowering his season ERA from 5.25 to 3.12.

ANTONINI SHINES: LHP Mike Antonini has impressed over his first six starts in Somerset, yielding just three runs over 29.0 IP (0.93 ERA). Additionally, he has allowed just six walks and 11 hits so far against 36 strikeouts, including a team-high 10 strikeouts August 13th and a no-hitter through six innings on August 19th.
