TOPS IN THE LEAGUE: 17 Patriots have had their contracts’ purchased in 2017: 12 by MLB organizations. LHPs Jeremy Bleich, Logan Darnell (twice) & Aaron Laffey along w/ RHPs Tyler Cloyd, Ryan Kelly, Vin Mazzaro, Mitch Atkins, INF Tyler Bortnick & OFs Jerry Sands, Christian Marrero and Justin Pacchioli had theirs’ purchased this season. RHPs Scott McGregor and David Kubiak & LHP Rick Teasley (Taiwan), INF Olmo Rosario (2X, Mexico) also had theirs’ purchased.

MERRY CLINCH-MAS: The Somerset Patriots won the First Half Liberty Division Championship & have now won an Atlantic League-record 18 half championships.

COUNTDOWN TO 1,000: Carlos Guzman is currently just two hits away from 1,000 over his professional career (all levels). The second-year Patriot currently leads the team in hits (107), at-bats (429), games (113) & ranks 2nd in RBI (56).

BULLS IN THE PEN: Over the last 11 games, Somerset’s bullpen has limited its opponent to just 12 earned runs over 52.2 innings (2.05 ERA). Additionally, the bullpen has combined for 50 strikeouts against 17 walks, and opponents are hitting just a combined .225 (45-for-200) from the plate.

ROLL WITH THE CHANGES: Kyle Roller has reached base in 29 of his last 34 games (hits in 22-of-34). Over that stretch, Roller has 10 home runs, 36 RBI and 25 BB. Despite 83 games this year, he ranks fourth in the league in home runs (22), 6th in RBI (73) and 7th in BB (54). Roller would also lead the league in OBP (.440), SLG (.621), OPS (1.061) and rank second in AVG (.333) if qualified. He is currently three plate appearances shy of qualifying (at 348, needs 351).

IT’S A TRAPP: Justin Trapp is recently ended a seven-game hit streak, over which he was 15-for-30 (.500) with three RBI and four runs scored. Additionally, he has reached base in 22 of 25 games, over which he is 35-for-92 (.380) with one homer, eight 2B, nine walks, 14 runs and 14 RBI.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT: Newly-signed D’Vontrey Richardson is 13-for-38 (.342) from the plate in his first nine games with the Patriots. The former New Jersey Jackal went a combined 5-for-8 with an RBI in Somerset’s 8/30 doubleheader.

ALL ANTOL-IN: RHP Dustin Antolin has allowed just two earned runs since joining the Patriots. The former Toronto Blue Jay has spanned 18.0 innings in 17 total appearances, striking out 24 batters compared to just three walks.

E-XCELLENT STRETCH: LHP Efrain Nieves has tossed quality starts in seven of his last nine, dating back to 7/19. Over this stretch, Nieves is 2-4 with a 2.52 ERA (15 ER in 53.2 IP) and 43 strikeouts, lowering his season ERA from 5.25 to 3.02.

DUSTIN THE WIND: RHP Dustin Molleken recently retired 19-straight batters out of the bullpen from 8/23 – 9/4. Dating back his final out on 8/23, Molleken is 1-0 with one save & seven strikeouts over seven and 1/3 innings.
