FIRST PLACE BEST PLACE: Somerset has held at least a share of first place for every day so far this season. The Patriots were in held at least a share of first place for 72 straight-days in the first half last year, with only three days tied.
RED-HOT A-ROD: Shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez has hit safely in six-straight games and 10 of his last 11. Over that span, Rodriguez is 17-for-41 (.415) with three RBI, four doubles, five walks and eight runs. His .385 average ranks fifth in the Atlantic League, while his .484 OBP ranks third. He has reached base safely in 15 of the 16 games in which he has played this season.
BORBON STREET: Outfielder Julio Borbon is 5-for-10 over his last three games with a home run, three RBI, three runs and three extra-base hits. This streak has his average back up to .291 on the year. The five-year big leaguer ranks second in the league in doubles (7) and extra-base hits (11) and third in slugging (.600).
IT’S A WALK OFF!: Somerset enjoyed four walk-off wins over its first six games of the year. The Patriots had three walk-off wins in first six games last year.
NUMBAH ONE: Though Mike Fransoso recently saw a six-game hit streak come to an end, the UMaine grad still ranks amongst league leaders. He is tied for second in runs (14), and eighth in average (.372) and OBP (.460).
CLOSE GAME MAGIC: Seven of Somerset’s first 11 wins have come by just one run. They are 7-1 in one-run games this season and were 20-21 last year.
DUDLEY DO-RIGHT: Aaron Dudley has a twelve-game on-base streak to begin the year, and is 2nd on the team in batting (.381). He ranks sixth in the league in hitting and ninth in on-base percentage (.458). The first-year Patriot hit over .300 with at least 10 home runs and 60 RBI in each of the last four seasons with the Normal Cornbelters (Frontier).
IT’S A TRAPP: Justin Trapp has reached base safely in 13 of the 14 games in which he has played this year, including each of his last four. Over this four-game stretch, the second-year Patriot has two runs, two doubles, two RBI, four walks and six steals. He currently leads the team in RBI (11) and ranks second in the league in stolen bases (7).
WELCOME, DAVIES: The Patriots announced the signing of eight-year Major Leaguer Kyle Davies on Monday, 5/7. Davies has 43 wins and 547 strikeouts over 770.1 innings his MLB career with the Braves, Royals and Yankees. He pitched 1 inning on Friday night before being pulled after 2 lengthy rain delays. He is scheduled to start again in Game 1 tomorrow night.
SLUMP BUSTED: With Somerset’s 6-2 over York Tuesday night, the Patriots ended a stretch of seven-straight losses in York. The last time they had won in York had been Sept. 4, 2016. The Revs took all seven of the meetings at PeoplesBank Park last year and won the season series last year 12-7 by outscoring the Patriots 89-63.
