1ST HALF LIBERTY DIVISION CHAMPIONS: Somerset have clinched their 7th half division title under manager Brett Jodie and their league-record 19th half championship in franchise history and is now guaranteed a playoff spot. Somerset spent the first 108-straight days of the season atop the Liberty Division.
EL CORONADO: Nate Coronado has three multi-hit games, four home runs and eight RBI over his last five games. He has reached base safely in 14 of his last 16 games and is hitting .292 with five home runs, 15 RBI and five steals in his first 28 games with the Patriots.
MAD MAN MASSEY: Craig Massey reached base in 3-of-5 plate appearances in his return Wednesday and has reached base safely in 31 of his last 33 games. He currently leads the league in OBP (.429) and ranks third in batting (.337).
SWATTIN’ SKEETERS: Justin Trapp is hitting .375 with three home runs, eight RBI and 11 runs over 15 games against the Sugar Land Skeeters this year.
SHOULDERING THE LOAD: The Patriots bullpen has tossed 39.1 innings over the last 10 games and has only allowed 11 earned runs over that stretch, good for a 2.52 ERA. This includes 5.1 innings without an earned run from second-year reliever Mike Antonini.
inVINCEable: Vince Molesky has a 1.66 ERA (eight earned runs over 43.1 IP) with nine walks to 33 strikeouts in his seven starts this year. His 2.79 ERA ranks second in the Atlantic League, and he has allowed the fourth fewest amount of hits amongst all qualified pitchers.
BIG MAPLE: Patriots relief pitcher Dustin Molleken has been lights out as of late. The 6’4” Canada native has allowed just one run in his last 8.2 IP, good for a 1.04 ERA over his last five appearances.
SHUT THE DOOR: Ryan Kelly has allowed one run with eight saves over 15.1 IP in his last 16 appearances (0.59 ERA). He ranks fifth in the league with 17 saves.
LIKE MIKE: LHP Mike Antonini has tossed 23.1 IP with just one earned run (0.39 ERA), with just 11 hits, four walks, and 24 strikeouts since 6/16 (20 games). His 0.72 WHIP leads the league with a minimum of 40.0 innings pitched.
THE ‘BIG JON’ EFFECT: Somerset’s pitching staff ranks second in strikeouts (807), has allowed the least amount of walks (262), and ranks second in the league in team ERA (3.55) under Jon Hunton in his first season as pitching coach.
AGE JUST A NUMBER: The 40-year-old Endy Chavez has reached base in 28 of the last 31 games. He is 44-for-128 (.344) with 12 multi-hit games, 8 runs, 11 RBI and has raised his average from .232 to .281 over this stretch.
PATCH EM UP: Justin Pacchioli has reached base safely in 15 of the last 17 and is 21-for-69 (.304) with 10 RBI over this stretch. He has is a perfect 28-for-28 in stolen base attempts and has either a run scored or an RBI in 28 of his last 34.
